This collaboration will allow users to receive more informed and up-to-date responses, underpinned by content that meets the highest journalistic standards.

Agence France-Presse (AFP) has appointed Karl Malakunas, currently Asia-Pacific Deputy Editor-in-Chief, to lead its new Philanthropic Partnerships Initiative, starting on February 1. The initiative aims to raise funds and build relationships with philanthropic institutions, such as charitable foundations and non-profits, that support media projects aligned with AFP’s values and objectives.

Seven more news agencies join the European Newsroom (enr) of which AFP is a partner

The European Newsroom (enr) is pleased to welcome seven new members. Now, a total of 23 news agencies from Europe are involved in the new round of the cooperation project. The European Newsroom, initiated in 2022, aims to strengthen collaboration among agency journalists across Europe and to enhance coverage of EU-related subjects. The new additions are AMNA (Greece), ANP (Netherlands), CTK (Czech Republic), PAP (Poland), Lusa (Portugal), Ritzau (Denmark) and TT (Sweden).

Amidst the bombings, with death ever-present and the constant fear of being targeted, Mahmud Hams, who has worked for AFP for over two decades in the Palestinian territories, has relentlessly continued to document the war ignited by Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
