Ezzedine has been Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, based in Paris, since September 2024. He previously led the Maghreb hub in Tunis and the Istanbul bureau, after serving as MENA Editor-in-Chief and Head of Arabic services.
A graduate of the Lille School of Journalism (ESJ), he joined AFP in 1994 in Jerusalem before working in the photo department and on the French desk in Nicosia. He later served as correspondent in Dubai, covering the Gulf, Yemen and Iraq, where he reported on the US invasion and the fall of Saddam Hussein, before returning to Jerusalem to oversee coverage of the Palestinian Territories, notably during the Second Intifada.
