AFP appoints chief editor Sophie Huet to new AI role

AFP has appointed Sophie Huet, one of its top journalists, to a new role driving its strategy on Artificial Intelligence, reflecting the Agency’s desire to bolster its competitiveness in this key domain.


Sophie Huet, currently Global Editor-in-Chief, has been appointed to the newly created position of Deputy Global News Director for Editorial Innovation and Artificial Intelligence.

Anne Guérin appointed AFP's Managing Director

Anne Guérin has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Agence France-Presse (AFP). She will take over the role from January next year, replacing Dalila Zein who held the position since 2018 and significantly contributed to the Agency’s financial recovery during her tenure.

Fabrice Fries, CEO of Agence France-Presse, was elected as the new President of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), for a two-year mandate, during the organisation’s General Assembly held in Paris on Thursday, September 14th, 2023. He will replace Clemens Pig, CEO of the Austrian news agency APA, in the role.

ADMO, a new website to fight disinformation in Croatia and Slovenia, launches with AFP as a partner

Croatian and Slovenian digital media observatory ADMO (Adria Digital Media Observatory), the result of a collaboration between journalists and academics, has launched admohub.eu, a website that will provide access to hundreds of articles, research projects and media literacy modules focused on disinformation.

AFP detects attack on its IT systems

Agence France-Presse detected an attack on its IT systems on Friday, affecting part of its delivery service to clients. It is not yet known who carried out this attack or why.


AFP's technical teams are working on the incident with the support of the French National Agency for IT Systems Security (ANSSI). The relevant authorities in France have been notified.
