Fabrice Fries (AFP) elected new President of the European Alliance of News Agencies

Fabrice Fries, CEO of Agence France-Presse, was elected as the new President of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), for a two-year mandate, during the organisation’s General Assembly held in Paris on Thursday, September 14th, 2023. He will replace Clemens Pig, CEO of the Austrian news agency APA, in the role.

AFP’s Arman Soldin killed in Ukraine

AFP journalist Arman Soldin was killed on Tuesday by rocket fire in eastern Ukraine. ‘‘The whole agency is devastated by the loss of Arman’’ AFP chairman Fabrice Fries said.


‘‘His death is a terrible reminder of the risks and dangers faced by journalists every day covering the conflict in Ukraine’’, Fries added.

Leading scientists and fact-checking experts including AFP launch NODES, the first European Narratives Observatory to fight disinformation online
